Just about to hit February and we seem to be almost catching up on all those jobs that got left in December. This week will be busy with various jobs and bookings.  Room 19 is out for a refurbishment (furniture and fabrics). The Leylandii trees are being removed at the bottom of the carpark -  they are a bit out of control and unfortunately past the topping stage.  We hesitate to cut down large trees but to compensate for this we have planted over 300 willows in the field, which will improve the local habitat, providing more insects to feed the birds than the leylandii ever did.

The 2 for 1 vouchers given out to the Christmas diners are coming back fast, if you have one, don't leave it too late to book as we cannot honour all in the last week of March.

Valentines weekend is getting busy so if you need a table in the restauant or a room, book quickly.

Burns night

The Burns night supper held with the Melton Rotary Club went really well with 72 guests enjoying the traditional supper. Piper Bill excelled himself and this year,  his 2 daughters provided some extra musical accompaniment to the meal. Beef was carved at the tables, whisky was tasted (and drunk) and the raffle raised some money for Rotary funds. I cannot reveal the eventual time I manged to prod the last guests out of the bar who took advantage of the special rates offered on overnight accommodation !
