News from Sysonby Knoll

Lots happening/ happened this week.

We are just reviewing the A la Carte menu to change for a more summer season menu, so keep on an eye on the web site for the new menu and any offers to promote it.

We had an unannounced day visit from the AA hotel inspector. We showed her round the hotel pointing out the work done since the visit last year. She was impressed with the room upgrades completed and ones planned, and congratulated the housekeepers on the cleanliness standards in all areas - well done to Viv and her team.  We will maintain our 3 stars and 78%.

This weekend we welcome Mr Lowe and the reunion group from the RAMC- Royal Army Medical Core. They have been meeting up every year since the end of the war. Since 1992 they have met at Sysonby Knoll. This means it is there 20th year- there is no better advert for the hotel than that!! Numbers have decreased over the intervening years. In 1992 we must have had about 40 for the dinner on the Sunday evening. This year we have 5 of the original group coming plus their family.

Easter Update

Easter Sunday proved as usual to be a busy Sunday Lunch. James and Zoe helped me to arrange a stack of Easter Eggs in the restaurant. Zoe then took her basket of tickets around all the diners inviting them to choose a ticket. As the saying goes everyone was a winner- some won little creme eggs but the lucky ones won larger eggs.

We then went off to the Easter Service at Sysonby Church. The church has just had its lighting and heating upgrade as well as a new carpet. It looked beautiful and we all benefitd from refreshments post service- more chocolate !

Car Club Visit

This weekend we played host to a visit to the area by the 'Matching Green Classic Car Club'. The club members stayed 2 to 3 nights and visited many of the local sights taking advantage of the lovely country driving. The club brought a varity of vehicles with them, pictures of which we will post on the Car section of the web site - so have a peek to see if you can spot your favourite. The weekend went very well except for Mr Cooper managing to hit a pheasant denting his MG's bonnet- the outcome as someone wrote on his bonnet:

MG 1 & Pheasant 0
